Terrafix 406 GPS I PLB: User may plug a GPS unit into this device to transmit coordinates or use without GPS for location via Doppler Shift technology (not as fast or precise as using GPS coordinates). TerraFix 406 GPS I interfaces with an external GPS (NMEA 0183) to reliably add LAT/LON to the message.
Terrafix 406 GPS I/O PLB: Contains on board GPS for simple coordinate transmission. Also works via Doppler Shift technology. TerraFix 406 GPS I/O has a GPS receiver mounted Onboard for the utmost in simplicity; just activate the beacon and TerraFix acquires GPS coordinates.
Features:
- Transmits on 406 MHz via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system with your registered unique, digitally coded distress signal and 121.5 MHz (SAR homing frequency).
- Onboard GPS (I/O PLB only) acquires LAT/LON when the unit is activated, your LAT/LON are transmitted as soon as acquired providing rescue agencies with your exact position to within 100 meters (110 yards).
- GPS interface (NMEA 0183) allows you to download your GPS coordinates from a GPS receiver into your PLB; when activated, your LAT/LON will accompany your 406 MHz signal on the first burst, dramatically saving valuable time for your distress message to reach local rescue centers.
- Removable holster provides functionality, style and protection for your PLB; carabiner clip allows for multiple mounting options on backpacks, webbing, and life vests.
- Floats to avoid loss if dropped in water, exceeds RTCM > waterproof requirements.
- Easily carried in a pack or pocket; small enough to be worn by hunters, hikers, kayakers, climbers, snowmobilers or any outdoor enthusiast.
- Full functional self test of internal circuitry, battery power, 406 MHz transmission, and GPS* acquisition (*I/O PLB only).
- Flat, stainless steel antenna wraps compactly around the unit for easy stowage; is easily positioned when needed.
